The Women Leaders Association, the largest publisher and events organization for women professionals with 43,000 members and more than 130 regional chapters, today announced Mimi Throckmorton, PCC, as the newest Coaching Partner of its San Diego chapter. The appointment gives the chapter's members a choice of two rigorously vetted coaches with complementary strengths.
Coaching is one of the highest-impact investments a professional woman can make in her career, and one of the hardest to shop for. Titles are unregulated and quality varies enormously. Under Coaching Partners, the association does the screening on the member's behalf, vetting every coach for recognized certifications, verifiable experience, and excellent client reviews, so members can book a consultation with confidence.
Driven, focused, hardworking - and privately wondering whether you are doing it right. Throckmorton built her practice for exactly that client: the small business owner who has learned to push harder, think more, and keep achieving, and who somewhere along the way stopped trusting her own inner wisdom.
She knows the pattern from the inside. Years ago, while her life looked enviable from the outside, she was unfocused, overwhelmed, rushing, and late all the time, and she walked away from nearly all of it, her dream job as well as the exciting extracurricular activities she had always wanted to be part of, because she did not yet have the skills to listen to her own inner wisdom. What shifted for her was finally learning it is essential to get support in order to have the life she really wanted. Later, still teaching and sensing it was time for something new, she hired a coach, and that work gave her the clarity to know when to move on and which opportunity was right.
Through coaching, she helps clients get clear on their vision, build a business plan with compelling goals that fit where they are right now, take consistent action on what matters most, and gain peace of mind knowing they are making progress toward the life they truly want.
Throckmorton has helped hundreds and hundreds of professional men and women find and keep inner peace while running a profitable business. She spent more than twelve years as a business coach with Buffini & Company, the world's largest coaching company, delivering its One2One personalized program and teaching business owners to work by referral with the systems and structures a successful business needs. She sought out further training with the Co-Active Training Institute and hired her own coach, and now coaches independently through her practice, Empowerment Coaching, in Oceanside.
Her path to coaching ran through the classroom and the corporate training room. She taught vocal music in the Santa Ana Unified School District for a decade, building programs and producing full concert productions from inception to curtain call, and earlier designed and facilitated manager training programs and franchise-wide curricula at Interim Personnel. She is a Professional Certified Coach credentialed by the International Coaching Federation and a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach through the Co-Active Training Institute, and holds a master's degree in adult education and training with a focus on instructional design, a master's in music education, and a bachelor's in music education.

The San Diego expansion is part of a national rollout extending Coaching Partners across the association's network of more than 130 chapters, pairing each city's members with coaches selected for that market.
Coaching Partners extends the association's mission of giving professional women both structural transparency and individual support. Research from Pew and others estimates that women still earn roughly 15 percent less than men on average, and the association's Glass Ceiling Score project scores most major U.S. employers on how fairly they promote women into management and executive roles. Coaching Partners adds the personal dimension: once a member sees the landscape clearly, a proven coach helps her move through it.
